Dr. Deben – Your title here

Practicing for 25 years

Sophia E. Deben, MD, is a new member of International Orthopaedic Specialists. Having just completed a 7 year tour of duty with the United States Navy, to include a combat tour in Iraq, she returns to her home in Miami, Florida to serve her community. 

She graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine and after completing an orthopaedic residency in Kansas City, MO, was stationed at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in support of the U.S. Marine Corps. She then completed a fellowship in Portland, Maine in complex foot and ankle reconstruction. At her next military station, Naval Medical Center San Diego, she served as the military foot and ankle surgeon for the entire west coast to include patients from Alaska, Hawaii and Guam. There, she had the opportunity to care for many military wounded warriors as well as special forces patients.

Dr. Sher – Your Title here

Practicing for 25 years

Dr. Sher and Dr. Lozman have been practicing Orthopaedic Surgery in Miami Beach for over 20 years. Originally a native of New York, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, CA where he grew up with a life long interest in the human body. He obtain his Bachelors of Science at UCLA in Psychobiology and proceeded to obtain his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) at USC.

With the goal of obtaining top notch training, Dr. Sher relocated again now to S. Florida where he completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at the University of Miami. He then proceeded to complete a year-long fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery with the well-known Dr. Joseph Ianotti.

During that time and for many years later, Dr. Sher was very involved in clinical scientific research, producing pivotal data on rotator cuff disease that is still used by surgeons today.

Dr. Lozman – Your Title here

Practicing for 25 years

Dr. Lozman has been in practice with Dr. Jerry Sher for over 20 years. He is a native of the Florida Keys who attended Palmer Trinity in South Florida before heading to New Orleans to obtain his Bachelors of Science from Tulane University.

Having a lifelong interest in sports, health and flying, Dr. Lozman proceeded to graduate from the University of Miami with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree, successfully completed an orthopaedic residency at the same institution and obtained private licenses for flying fixed winged aircraft. His specialization in sports was solidified after a year-long fellowship with Dr. John Uribe at The University of Miami as well as a two year long course of study in microsurgery.

To further his interest in flying and in support of this nation’s defense, Dr. Lozman is now at his 10-year mark as a reservist in the United States Airforce.
