PROstepTM Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery: Bunion surgery has traditionally been a painful procedure with a prolonged recovery. New technology using small burrs and guided screws allows for the correction of most mild to moderate bunion deformities through three small 1cm long incisions. All the implants are buried to minimize the potential of pain from the hardware and the return to walking in a boot is markedly accelerated.
Cell-based therapies: Much attention is being drawn to cell-based therapies like bone-marrow derived stem cells, adipose (fat) derived stem cells, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as well as amniotic and umbilical cord tissue grafting and injections. While many of these applications for joint and tendon change is considered experimental by the FDA, there is promising research that may provide treatment solutions for some patients. Our physicians actively review this data and can guide you through the various options towards a treatment solution for your pain.
